Find an app with less typing
Start typing when the grid is open. Use a name, the beginning of a word or initials: “gc” finds Google Chrome. Search handles typos such as “chorme” and the nicknames you give apps. Use arrows to pick a result, then Return to open it.
Try an action
- Type “24*18”, “200*15%” or “√16” for a calculation. Return copies the answer.
- Search “dark mode”, “wifi” or “open anyway” for the matching System Settings page.
- Type the name of one of your Shortcuts to run it.
- Search for an app to see its recently opened files underneath.
Describe a task
On a supported Mac with Apple Intelligence on, try a task such as “edit photos”. CubbyPad asks the on-device model which of your apps fit. You can turn this plain-words search off in Settings › Search & Siri. Voice search is available separately with Command–D.
