Start listening
- Open CubbyPad.
- Click the microphone in Search or Ask, or press Command–D.
- Allow the microphone and speech-recognition permissions when macOS asks.
- Say a command such as “Open Safari”. A pause ends listening.
How speech is handled
CubbyPad uses macOS speech recognition. On Macs with on-device recognition, it requests that mode. On other Macs, macOS may send audio to Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. CubbyPad does not save recordings and listens only while the voice action is active.
If listening does not start
Check the microphone and speech-recognition permissions for CubbyPad in System Settings › Privacy & Security. Make sure the intended microphone is available. Escape backs out of listening. You can always type into search instead.
