Review unused apps and leftovers

Use Cleanup to see what takes space, choose exactly what to remove, and move selected items to the Trash.

Find apps you have stopped opening

Open Settings › Cleanup. Choose apps not opened in three months, six months or a year. Sort by size, last opened or name and inspect the entries before selecting anything. The storage bar gives context for the space you could free.

Review files before removing them

  1. Look through the selected app and any proposed leftovers.
  2. Read the exact file paths. Keep anything you still need.
  3. Choose individual leftovers rather than accepting a group blindly.
  4. Hide the apps or move the selected items to the Trash.

Storage is different from memory

Cleanup helps with space on disk. To inspect running apps’ memory use, click the memory-pressure light beside Settings or right-click a running app. Quitting an app frees memory; it does not remove its installation or files.

Keep exploring.
