# Undo or redo a grid edit

Command–Z reverses CubbyPad arrangement changes; Shift–Command–Z redoes them.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. After an unwanted grid edit, keep CubbyPad active.

1. Press Command–Z and inspect the result.

1. Use Shift–Command–Z if you want to redo that edit.

1. Before a larger reorganization, save a layout backup as well.

## What to expect

Moves, folder edits, hiding, renaming and Organize changes can be reversed through the grid’s editing history. This is faster than manually recreating the previous arrangement.

Undo is an editing tool, not a permanent archive of every arrangement. A saved backup is the deliberate recovery point for a later move, replacement or large experiment.

## If the result is different

If another application responds to Command–Z, return focus to CubbyPad. If you removed application files, a layout undo is not a replacement for file recovery. Distinguish changing an icon’s position from uninstalling its application.
