# Move an installed app to the Trash

Use Move to Trash only when you intend to remove the app installation, rather than just hide its grid icon.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Save any work in the app and check data you may need later.

1. Choose Move to Trash from its grid context menu or a reviewed Cleanup selection.

1. Read the confirmation and any separately proposed leftovers.

1. Inspect the Trash before deciding on permanent removal.

## What to expect

The selected application is moved out of its installation location. This is a different action from Hide from Grid, which keeps the software installed.

macOS system applications can only be hidden in CubbyPad. Removing an app also does not automatically cancel a third-party subscription or replace an app’s own data-export process.

## If the result is different

If you only wanted fewer icons, cancel the removal and use Hide. If an item cannot be moved, keep the error text and review the app’s own uninstall guidance. A launcher-layout restore cannot recover documents that were separately removed.
