# Sort the grid by name, usage, date or color

Use Sort By to order apps and folders by name, date added, last opened, most used or icon color.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Save a backup if you want to preserve the exact current arrangement.

1. Right-click empty grid space or open Settings › Layout › Sort apps.

1. Choose the intended Sort By option.

1. Inspect several pages and use Undo if you prefer the old order.

## What to expect

The selected order fills the pages one after another. Existing folders keep their apps; sorting is different from Organize creating a proposed set of category folders.

Choose the order that supports finding apps. A color sort can suit visual recognition, while name order is predictable without depending on app-use history.

## If the result is different

If a familiar app moved, search for it before assuming it disappeared. If you wanted a new folder structure, use Organize and review its preview instead. Read the specific sort choice before applying it to a layout you use every day.
