# Find an app by typing its name

Start typing as soon as CubbyPad opens, then use arrows and Return to choose a result.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open the grid with your normal opening control.

1. Type part of the application’s name.

1. Use arrow keys to pick the intended result.

1. Press Return to open it.

## What to expect

Search gives you a route that does not depend on knowing the app’s page or folder. Apps hidden from the grid remain available through search.

Name matching works without Apple Intelligence. A task description such as “edit photos” is a different, optional model-assisted search feature with additional requirements.

## If the result is different

If the app does not appear, confirm it is installed and its source location is available. Try more of the actual name to separate similar matches. Check custom app folders or an external disk before changing the layout.
