# Show dots under running apps

Enable Running apps in Settings › Grid to mark applications that are currently open with a dot beneath the icon.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open Settings › Grid and find On icons.

1. Turn Running apps on.

1. Launch an application, then return to the grid.

1. Compare its dot with an app that is not running.

## What to expect

The indicator reflects whether the application is running. Closing an app window may leave its process open, so the dot can remain until you quit that application.

The dot is separate from notification badges, recent-use results and time-based suggestions. An app can be running without an unread badge or can be recently used after it has quit.

## If the result is different

If a dot remains, inspect the application’s Quit command rather than only closing its window. If no dots appear, check the Running apps toggle before changing the layout. To inspect resource use, use CubbyPad’s memory view separately.
