# Rename a saved layout

Use Rename… for a named layout in Settings › Layout to make its purpose clearer in the layout chooser.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open Settings › Layout.

1. Find the named arrangement you want to change.

1. Use its menu and choose Rename….

1. Enter a clear name and confirm, then inspect the layout chooser.

## What to expect

The layout’s label changes without requiring a new installation or manually moving all its icons. Choose a name you will recognize while switching contexts.

Main is the baseline layout, while added named layouts represent separate arrangements. Rename a layout itself rather than renaming one of its folders when you want the chooser’s label to change.

## If the result is different

If the expected menu is absent, check whether you selected Main or an added layout. If the contents differ from what you remember, inspect the active arrangement before making further edits. A label change is separate from its automatic display or time rule.
