# Rename a CubbyPad folder

Edit a folder’s name to make the app group easier to recognize when browsing the grid.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open the folder and click its name to edit it.

1. Enter a specific, recognizable label.

1. Finish the edit and return to the page.

1. You can also pick the folder and use Command–R to rename it.

## What to expect

The folder appears with the chosen label. Apps inside it retain their own names unless you separately rename those entries.

A task name can be more memorable than an automatic category. Rename the group to match how you reach for its tools, and keep a consistent naming approach across layouts you use regularly.

## If the result is different

If you are editing an app instead of its folder, cancel and select the folder itself. If you prefer the old name, use Undo soon after the change. Folder color, emoji or symbol belongs to Customize and is independent of the text label.
