# Rename an app inside CubbyPad

Use Rename or Command–R to give an app a label you recognize in the launcher and its search.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Right-click the app and choose Rename, or pick it and press Command–R.

1. Enter the intended name.

1. Finish editing and inspect the grid label.

1. Search for the chosen name to check that it is useful.

## What to expect

CubbyPad uses your chosen app name in its arrangement. This is not a command to rename the application bundle or its documents in Finder.

A nickname can bridge the difference between an official product title and the task word you remember. Use distinct labels so several unrelated apps do not all become ambiguous results.

## If the result is different

If the new name appears elsewhere than expected, confirm which app was selected before the edit. Use Undo to reverse the grid rename. If you only wanted labels displayed more often, use Grid › App names instead.
