# Fix a background picture that could not be copied

Choose another readable image when CubbyPad reports that it could not copy a selected background picture.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Read the message in Settings › Grid › Background.

1. Confirm the source image is accessible in Finder.

1. If needed, make a local copy you can open.

1. Use Choose… again and select the readable image.

## What to expect

A successful selection gives CubbyPad a usable copy of the background. Before a picture has been chosen successfully, glass provides the fallback.

A file name in a cloud folder or on an unplugged disk does not guarantee the file’s contents are currently available. Test opening it normally before repeating the selection.

## If the result is different

If several readable images fail, note their formats, locations and the exact message for support. Try another background type to keep the grid usable while investigating. Do not delete app-layout data to address a failed picture copy.
