# Change the fade at page edges

Fade at the edges softens icons as sideways pages slide off screen instead of cutting them off abruptly.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open Settings › Grid › Turning pages.

1. Choose sideways pages if you want to compare edge fading.

1. Turn Fade at the edges on or off.

1. Swipe between pages and inspect the sides of the grid.

## What to expect

Sideways page transitions use the chosen edge treatment. The option does not change the backdrop’s blur or dim level.

Vertical page movement slides without this fading effect. Keep that orientation difference in mind when a saved toggle does not produce an obvious change.

## If the result is different

If you cannot see any difference, check Pages go and compare an actual multi-page swipe rather than a still page. Opening motion is controlled in Settings › Opening; changing edge fade will not change a zoom or fade used when the entire grid opens.
