# Adjust how quickly CubbyPad opens

The Speed setting under Opening changes the duration of the grid’s opening and closing motion.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open Settings › Opening and find Motion.

1. Choose a Speed value.

1. Use Try It to preview the change.

1. Press Escape and compare another value if needed.

## What to expect

The transition timing changes. It does not change app launch speed, network requests, the number of grid pages or the performance of the apps you open.

A quicker animation can feel more immediate, while a slower one can make the movement easier to follow. Judge it with the same opening style and normal display arrangement so the comparison is meaningful.

## If the result is different

If the visual effect is smaller than expected, check Reduce Motion and the chosen Opening style. If an app itself takes time to start after selection, investigate that app separately; transition speed only controls CubbyPad’s own presentation.
