# Choose a specific display for CubbyPad

Choose a named connected display in Settings › Opening when the grid should prefer that monitor wherever the pointer is.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Connect the monitor you want to use.

1. Open Settings › Opening › Display.

1. Choose its name under Open on.

1. Test from another screen to confirm the selected monitor receives the grid.

## What to expect

CubbyPad prefers the chosen display rather than the pointer’s current display. This setting controls the window’s location, not the contents of a Work or Personal layout.

A named-display preference can be useful at a regular desk. When that display is missing, CubbyPad falls back to the pointer’s display until the preferred screen is available again.

## If the result is different

If two screens have similar names, test the selection before changing other preferences. If the chosen monitor is disconnected, the fallback is expected. Reconnect it or choose another opening mode rather than assuming the grid has lost its saved arrangement.
