# Open CubbyPad on the pointer’s display

Choose pointer-based opening if the grid should appear on whichever display currently holds your pointer.

## Follow these steps

1. Connect the screens you normally use.

1. Open Settings › Opening and find Display.

1. Set Open on to the pointer-based choice.

1. Move the pointer between displays and test the opening shortcut on each.

## What to expect

The grid appears where the pointer is, which suits a workflow that moves between a laptop screen and an external monitor. The preference is independent of the app layout currently selected.

The display containing keyboard focus and the display containing the pointer may differ. Move the pointer deliberately during the test so you can distinguish screen choice from shortcut behavior.

## If the result is different

If the grid keeps appearing on a fixed screen, inspect whether Main or a specific display is selected instead. If an automatic display rule changes the app arrangement, remember that a layout rule and the opening-screen preference solve different problems.
