# Use mouse back and forward buttons for pages

Enable Mouse side buttons in Settings › Grid to use a mouse’s back and forward buttons for CubbyPad navigation.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open Settings › Grid › Turning pages.

1. Enable Mouse side buttons.

1. Open a layout with more than one page and test forward and back.

1. Open a folder and test Back to close it.

## What to expect

The side buttons provide page navigation, with Back also closing an open folder. This supplements the trackpad, scrolling and keyboard controls.

A mouse may have its own configuration utility that changes what a physical button sends. CubbyPad’s option controls its use of back and forward events rather than reprogramming the mouse for every application.

## If the result is different

If a button does something different, inspect the mouse’s existing mapping and compare the keyboard page commands. Disable CubbyPad’s option when you prefer those buttons to retain another purpose. Include the mouse model when reporting an unexpected mapping.
