# Why CubbyPad opens elsewhere after unplugging a monitor

A saved display preference falls back to the pointer’s display while the chosen monitor is disconnected.

## Follow these steps

1. Open Settings › Opening and read the Display card.

1. Check whether the saved named display is currently connected.

1. Move your pointer to the screen you want to use and open the grid.

1. Reconnect the preferred monitor or change Open on for the new setup.

## What to expect

The launcher stays reachable instead of attempting to display its grid on an unavailable screen. The named preference can be used again when the screen returns.

This fallback is separate from a connected-display layout rule. Unplugging a monitor can therefore change both the screen available for opening and which arrangement an automatic rule selects.

## If the result is different

If the display appears connected but is not listed as expected, inspect macOS Displays first. Note the monitor name, connection method and chosen Open on setting when asking for help. Avoid resetting layouts to investigate a screen-availability problem.
