# Inspect leftover files before cleanup

Review exact support-file paths and choose leftovers individually rather than assuming every associated file should be removed.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open Settings › Cleanup and inspect a proposed leftover group.

1. Read each path and identify what application it belongs to.

1. Select only the files you intend to remove.

1. Review the operation before moving those selections to the Trash.

## What to expect

You keep control over which support files are selected. Cleanup moves chosen items to the Trash instead of permanently deleting them at that step.

Settings, caches and app-support data can have different value to you. Keep anything you cannot confidently classify, especially when another installed tool may still use it.

## If the result is different

If a path is unfamiliar, leave it unselected and investigate the owning application. Preserve important data or a backup before removal. A smaller app grid does not require deleting support files, and a layout backup is not a backup of those application documents.
