# Restore a saved CubbyPad layout

Restore… replaces the current pages, folders and hidden apps with a chosen valid CubbyPad backup after confirmation.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Back up the current arrangement if you want to preserve it.

1. Open Settings › Layout › Restore….

1. Choose the intended CubbyPad JSON backup.

1. Read the saved date and replacement warning, then confirm only the expected file.

## What to expect

The saved arrangement replaces the current one. Apps absent from this Mac are skipped and apps installed since the backup go at the end.

A restore does not install missing software or restore its documents. Keep the layout file distinct from a full Mac backup and your license key.

## If the result is different

If CubbyPad says the file is not a backup, select the original saved file rather than editing JSON to force acceptance. If some apps are missing after restoration, check their installation and connected drives before judging the backup as damaged.
