# Save a CubbyPad layout backup file

Use Back Up… in Settings › Layout to save pages, folders and hidden apps before a major change.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open Settings › Layout and find Backup.

1. Choose Back Up….

1. Select a writable location and keep the suggested date or another recognizable name.

1. Confirm the saved file exists before importing or reorganizing the grid.

## What to expect

You have a deliberate recovery file for the arrangement. It is separate from the application installer, installed app files and purchase receipt.

A backup is particularly useful before replacing a layout or choosing between synced data sets. Keep important recovery copies somewhere you can still reach after changing Macs.

## If the result is different

If saving fails, check the chosen folder’s availability and write access. Choose another location and retain the error for support. Do not proceed with a destructive replacement merely because you clicked Back Up; confirm the file was actually saved.
