# Fix layout sync when iCloud Drive is off

CubbyPad’s sync relies on iCloud Drive being enabled for the intended Apple Account on each participating Mac.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Read the Sync card’s current status in Settings › Layout.

1. Use Open iCloud… when the app reports iCloud Drive is off.

1. Review the Mac’s Apple Account and iCloud Drive setting.

1. Return to CubbyPad and enable or retry the intended sync setup.

## What to expect

The app can use the iCloud-backed file location when the system provides it. A local layout remains useful even while cloud delivery is unavailable.

Sync availability and license activation are different checks. A valid Duo key does not automatically configure iCloud, and enabling iCloud does not supply another paid license seat.

## If the result is different

If iCloud is on but changes have not arrived, inspect the other Mac’s account and sync status too. Save a layout backup before replacing data during troubleshooting. Report the status text and which Mac has the desired arrangement.
