# Give a folder a color, emoji or symbol

Use Customize… from a folder’s context menu to change its visual treatment in CubbyPad.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Right-click the intended folder.

1. Choose Customize….

1. Pick the available color, emoji or symbol treatment.

1. Check the folder both closed and open against your chosen backdrop.

## What to expect

The group has a visual cue that can make it easier to find. The setting does not replace the artwork of every app inside the folder.

Names and visual cues work together. A distinctive color can help scanning, while a clear folder name remains useful for keyboard navigation and when several groups use related symbols.

## If the result is different

If you meant a consistent style for every application icon, use Grid › Icon Pack instead. If a folder is difficult to distinguish, compare a quieter background and visible labels before changing more settings. The folder’s contents are edited through arrangement controls.
