# Scan an additional folder for apps

Add a folder in Settings › Layout › App Folders for applications you keep outside the usual app locations.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open Settings › Layout and find App Folders.

1. Choose Add Folder….

1. Select the folder that actually contains your apps.

1. Let CubbyPad look again and search for one app from that location.

## What to expect

The chosen location becomes an additional source for app discovery. This controls where CubbyPad looks; it does not copy the software into Applications or install it for you.

Use a specific location you recognize, such as a folder of games. Adding a scan folder is different from making a visual folder inside the grid, which only groups discovered apps.

## If the result is different

If nothing appears, inspect the folder in Finder and confirm it contains actual applications rather than installers or document shortcuts. Check Hidden Apps and the drive’s availability. Include the folder path in a support request only if it contains no private information.
