# Calculate a value and copy the answer

Enter a calculation in Search or Ask and press Return to copy its result instead of opening a separate calculator.

## Follow these steps

1. Open CubbyPad and type an expression such as 24*18.

1. Read the result and check the intended operation.

1. Try 200*15% for a percentage or √16 for a square root.

1. Press Return to copy the answer and paste it where needed.

## What to expect

The search action calculates a value and makes it available to paste. It is separate from asking Apple Intelligence to suggest apps for a task.

Use clear operations and keep the meaning or units with the number in your document. A short calculation is convenient, but a spreadsheet can be clearer when you need multiple recorded inputs and steps.

## If the result is different

If an expression does not produce the expected result, simplify it and inspect the operation before copying. If you need an application, replace the expression with its name. Normal calculations do not require enabling voice recognition.
