# Choose a solid grid background color

Use Color in Settings › Grid › Background for a simple backdrop without a photo or desktop detail.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open Settings › Grid › Background.

1. Select Color.

1. Use the color picker to choose the backdrop.

1. Check labels against the chosen shade and inspect a folder.

## What to expect

CubbyPad uses the selected color. Names turn dark on a light color to help maintain readability, rather than assuming every background is dark.

A solid backdrop is a useful reference when diagnosing a readability issue. It separates icon and label choices from busy wallpaper textures and can make differences in Name size easier to judge.

## If the result is different

If the page still shows an image, verify that Color remains selected as the background type. If text is difficult to distinguish, choose a less extreme shade and inspect label visibility. Color changes do not rename apps or replace their original artwork.
