# Change CubbyPad’s automatic update checks

The Check automatically toggle in Settings › General controls the app’s daily search for a new release.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open Settings › General.

1. Find the Updates card.

1. Turn Check automatically on or off.

1. Use Check for Updates… whenever you want a manual check.

## What to expect

Enabling the option allows a daily update check. It is separate from the app’s update-signature validation, and switching it off does not make unsigned packages acceptable.

Automatic checking and automatic installation are different decisions. Read the updater’s prompt when a release is offered. Keep the installed app in Applications so future launches and updates refer to a stable copy.

## If the result is different

If update controls are unavailable, read the explanatory caption: a non-release build may not have updates enabled. If you turn off checking, remember to inspect What’s new and perform manual checks when you want fixes; your license still covers the included 1.x line.
