# Change the size of app-name labels

Choose a larger or smaller Name size in Settings › Grid when labels need to be easier to read.

Last updated 26 October 2026

## Follow these steps

1. Open Settings › Grid › Appearance.

1. Select an App names option that displays labels.

1. Choose the desired Name size when that control is available.

1. Inspect both short and long names on your normal screen.

## What to expect

The text beneath icons changes size. Long application names can still need more room, so compare the result with the grid’s density and spacing.

Label size is separate from icon size and the Mac’s display-scaling preference. A readable arrangement may use both larger labels and fewer grid columns rather than maximizing either setting alone.

## If the result is different

If the size control is not visible, check whether App names is set to hide labels. If the text blends into the background, compare a solid color or stronger dimming. A name-size adjustment will not change the official application name.
