# Choose sideways or vertical pages for your app grid

CubbyPad can arrange page movement side to side or up and down. Test the direction with your normal mouse, trackpad and keyboard routes.

## Choose a direction that matches your navigation habit

Sideways pages can feel familiar from the older Launchpad and an iPad-style grid. Vertical pages may fit the scrolling movement you already use on a mouse or trackpad. The setting changes how you travel between pages, not which applications are installed.

## Compare movement with a real library

1. Open Settings › Grid › Turning pages.

1. Choose a Pages go direction.

1. Visit a later page using your ordinary input device.

1. Open and close a folder before comparing the other direction.

## Expect the edge treatment to differ

The Fade at the edges control applies to sideways movement. Vertically moving pages slide without that treatment. Check the direction before deciding a saved fade preference is ineffective.

Command-arrow controls and Command–[ or Command–] give you additional navigation routes. A mouse’s back and forward buttons can also be used when that option is enabled.

## Keep organization separate from navigation

Changing orientation is not a substitute for meaningful folders and clear names. Once the movement feels comfortable, keep the arrangement stable long enough to learn it. If an app seems missing after other edits, search and inspect later pages before replacing the layout.

[### App grid folders vs Finder folders: what actually moves?

A folder in CubbyPad groups app shortcuts in the grid. It does not relocate the installed applications or organize your documents in Finder.

CubbyPad can sort the grid by icon color. It is a useful visual arrangement when color helps you find apps, but it changes the positions you may already remember.
