# Build a comfortable app grid with reduced motion

CubbyPad respects Reduce Motion, and its icon size, labels and navigation settings can be adjusted independently of animation.

## Start with the system preference

When macOS Reduce Motion is enabled, CubbyPad uses a fade rather than the decorative opening style you selected. The Motion card explains that override. An unchanged-looking fade does not necessarily mean a zoom or rise preference failed to save.

## Treat readability as a separate task

Make names visible and choose an icon size that is comfortable on the actual display. If the page feels crowded, reduce rows or columns instead of depending on a transition to communicate where each app went.

A simple color or quieter background can make labels easier to distinguish. Compare a folder as well as the first page so the setup remains usable where the library is denser.

## Keep stable input routes

A keyboard shortcut and arrow-based navigation can make the opening and choosing sequence repeatable. A layout with familiar positions provides context without requiring every interaction to have a large visual movement. Choose the routes that fit your needs rather than enabling all gestures at once.

## Test the whole repeated sequence

1. Open the grid from a normal app.

1. Select an app or enter a folder.

1. Back out with Escape.

1. Repeat with your normal motion and accessibility preferences still enabled.

## More on search and keyboard.

[### Adjust the launcher’s opening speed without changing app launches

CubbyPad’s motion timing controls its own transition. It is separate from the time another application takes to load after selection.

No. The app grid, ordinary search, folders and layouts work without Apple Intelligence. Plain-language task suggestions and model-based organization have additional requirements.

CubbyPad can match app initials and typing mistakes: “gc” can find Google Chrome, and a misspelling such as “chorme” can still lead to Chrome.
