# Plan CubbyPad activation before an offline trip

First activation requires a connection. An already activated license has a limited offline grace period when a later check cannot connect.

## Check access while you still have a connection

Install and activate CubbyPad before relying on it away from the internet. Open Settings › License and read the current status rather than assuming that downloading the DMG alone unlocked the grid. Keep the purchase receipt where you can recover the key.

## Understand what the saved grace period means

CubbyPad’s current temporary offline grace period is 14 days after a connection problem with an already activated license. It is not a permanent promise that the app will never need to contact the license service again.

An explicit refunded or revoked state is also different from a temporary network failure. Read the actual message instead of interpreting every access problem as the same kind of offline check.

## Keep other network uses distinct

Update checks and optional iCloud layout delivery have separate purposes. A successful local app launch does not mean a cloud change has already arrived on another Mac. Local app-history processing is another separate privacy question from license validation.

## Make the travel setup easy to diagnose

1. Confirm the activation and compatible macOS version.

1. Save a layout backup before a move or broad change.

1. Install needed apps locally through their normal sources.

1. Reconnect when available and inspect any license-status message promptly.
