# Keep communication apps findable without crowding your grid

Use a clear communications folder, deliberate badges and a separate work arrangement when several chat, mail and meeting tools compete for attention.

## Group by how you choose the next tool

A Communications folder can make sense when your work uses several services. Give each app a recognizable label and keep the group in a stable position. The purpose is to find the correct tool quickly rather than to duplicate the inbox inside the launcher.

## Decide whether folder totals are useful

With Notification badges enabled, a folder summarizes its apps’ counts. Open it to identify the underlying app when a total is ambiguous. CubbyPad does not mark messages read by opening the group.

If those counts pull attention while you are choosing another app, hide badge display in the grid. Configure the apps’ actual notifications in their own or macOS settings separately.

## Use a Work layout without assuming it logs you out

Moving to a Personal layout can put different apps in view, but work chat can remain running. A layout is organization, not a sign-out or a notification policy. Handle the end of a communication session in the tools that own it.

## Review redundant entrances

1. Choose which communications apps need a Dock entry.

1. Keep the wider group in the grid.

1. Use search when the app’s name is already known.

1. Remove only the visual shortcuts that no longer help; evaluate uninstalling separately.
