# Find and place a newly installed Mac app

Confirm the app was installed, find it in search or Recently Installed, and choose its permanent folder only after checking that it opens.

## Finish the installation first

A completed download is not always a completed installation. For a drag-to-Applications disk image, copy the application and run the installed copy through its normal first-open steps. A launcher cannot replace the app maker’s installation procedure.

## Use a discovery route before browsing every page

Search the actual name in CubbyPad. A Recently Installed smart folder provides another useful review view when you are trying several tools. If the app lives outside normal locations, inspect App Folders rather than assuming the download should automatically appear.

Check that it opens individually before making it part of an Open All work group. This keeps an installation failure separate from a multi-app launch routine.

## Give the app a deliberate home

1. Choose the task group where you will look for it.

1. Move the app into that folder or a clear page position.

1. Use a distinct name if the official label is hard to remember.

1. Keep your everyday arrangement stable while you evaluate the new tool.

## Return to the decision later

Trying software does not mean it must stay prominent forever. After using it, decide whether to keep its grid position, hide it or review removal. A launcher makes those choices easier to inspect; it does not decide whether the app remains valuable to your work.
