# Make a new Mac’s app grid feel familiar

Bring a known CubbyPad arrangement over, then verify the installed apps, source locations and license instead of relying only on matching icons.

## Start from a recovery copy you trust

Save a layout backup on the old Mac before making major changes. Optional iCloud sync is another route for current organization, but a backup preserves a deliberate point you can identify. Keep it until the new setup has been checked.

## Restore organization and software separately

A layout file does not contain every application or its documents. Install needed software through its normal sources and reconnect any external app locations. CubbyPad can skip unavailable apps during a restore and place newer installations at the end.

Search for a familiar tool and launch it once. A recognizable folder structure is reassuring, but a successful opening is a better check that the installation is ready.

## Plan the activation move

Under Solo, free the old Mac’s seat before activating the replacement. Duo can keep two Macs active. Preserve the key from the receipt and contact support if the old Mac is unavailable rather than buying again just to release a seat.

## Check the working environment

1. Test the preferred shortcut on the new keyboard.

1. Check display and icon-size preferences.

1. Open a familiar folder and actual document.

1. Save a new layout backup after confirming the arrangement.
