# Main layout and Focus layout: plan the return as well as the start

A Focus Filter can choose a work arrangement, but CubbyPad’s Main layout remains important when that Focus ends.

## Give Main a useful everyday role

It is easy to spend all the organization effort on a named Work layout and ignore the baseline. CubbyPad returns to Main when a Focus with its layout filter ends, so the return view deserves the same clear labels and reliable positions as the work view.

## Create a purpose-specific arrangement

An added layout begins as a copy of the current one. Adapt it for the work you want the Focus to represent rather than creating many nearly identical arrangements without a distinct use.

Configure the filter under System Settings › Focus after confirming manual switching works. The filter selects organization; notification allowances and other Focus behavior remain macOS decisions.

## Test the complete cycle

1. Open Main and identify a familiar folder.

1. Enable the Focus and inspect the selected work layout.

1. Turn the Focus off.

1. Confirm that Main is a comfortable place to continue.

## Investigate another automatic change separately

A monitor or time rule can also choose organization under other conditions. If the view changes again, inspect the active conditions instead of repeatedly editing Main to resemble whichever layout appeared last. Clear names make that diagnosis much easier.
