# An app is missing from the grid: a practical checklist

Check search, hidden apps, the active layout and the installation’s source before resetting your launcher arrangement.

## Establish whether the app is discoverable

Type the app’s actual name in CubbyPad. If search finds it, the application may be hidden from browsing pages or located on a different page than you remember. That is a different problem from the launcher not discovering its installation at all.

## Inspect the view you are using

Check the active layout name and Settings › Hidden Apps. A Focus, monitor connection or time rule may have selected another arrangement. A grid-size change can also push existing icons onto later pages.

Compare those conditions before applying a backup. Replacing a healthy layout to fix a view-selection problem can create more reorganization work than the original issue.

## Confirm the app exists where expected

1. Locate the application in Finder.

1. Reconnect an external drive if it holds the installation.

1. Check Settings › Layout › App Folders for a custom source.

1. Distinguish an installed app from an unopened installer image.

## Keep the remaining problem specific

If the app is installed, its source is available and search still cannot find it, record its name and general location with your CubbyPad and macOS versions. That gives support a reproducible discovery question without needing your entire app list or private documents.
