# Use Mac icon packs without changing the Dock or Finder

CubbyPad’s Dot and Smoked icon packs change the app grid’s appearance. They leave each app’s own icons in the Dock and Finder alone.

## Keep a new look inside the launcher

An icon pack in CubbyPad is a presentation choice for the grid. You do not need to replace icons inside installed applications or change their Finder appearance to use it. That makes a different look easy to try and reverse.

Dot draws apps in lit dots. Smoked uses silver on dark glass. Each pack has artwork for 81 popular apps and draws other app icons to match the chosen style. The artwork count is not a limit on how many apps the grid can display.

## Choose a pack in Settings

1. Open Settings › Grid › Icon Pack.

1. Choose Dot or Smoked.

1. Use the card’s count to see how many of your apps have dedicated pack artwork.

1. Open your usual folders and check that you can still recognize their apps.

1. Choose Apps’ Own Icons to return to the original appearance.

## Balance consistency with recognition

A shared visual style can make a page feel calmer, but original app colors are also useful recognition cues. Check the apps you open frequently before deciding a pack is better for daily use. Keep names visible if the new shapes take time to learn.

## Adjust the backdrop with the icons

A busy or very bright background may make a subtle icon style harder to read. Use the background blur and dim controls, or choose a simpler color. Treat the icon pack, labels and backdrop as one readable view rather than three independent decorations.
