# Make your Mac app grid easier to read with larger icons

In CubbyPad, icon size, labels and the number of rows and columns are separate choices. Change them together to make a grid that is comfortable on your display.

## Start with readable spacing

A page that holds more apps is not automatically easier to use. On a small display, a dense grid can make nearby icons harder to distinguish. Larger icons and fewer items per page may make selection more comfortable.

CubbyPad lets you change icon size and choose 4–12 columns and 3–8 rows. The number of pages changes with the space available and the apps you keep in the arrangement.

## Change one part, then check it

1. Open Settings › Grid.

1. Increase the icon size until familiar shapes are easy to recognize.

1. Reduce rows or columns if the page feels crowded.

1. Keep app names visible and choose a readable label size.

1. Check an open folder as well as the main page.

## Use names as another recognition cue

Hiding labels can make a page look cleaner, but similar icons become harder to tell apart. Labels on hover are a middle ground when you use a pointer. If you rely on quick scanning or keyboard navigation, visible names may be the clearer option.

## Readability includes the background

Try a simple backdrop or increase dimming when the wallpaper competes with text. A choice that looks good on one display may be less comfortable on another. Test the arrangement at the screen size and distance you normally use, then keep the settings that are easiest to read.
