# Arrange your app grid without dragging icons

CubbyPad supports keyboard picking, selection, movement, naming and grouping so a precise pointer drag is not the only editing route.

## Learn selection before batch editing

Arrow keys pick an app or folder and Return opens it. Space selects the picked icon for a group operation. Keep picking, selection and ordinary opening distinct while learning the controls so you do not mistake a highlighted icon for a whole intended group.

## Use explicit movement and naming commands

Option plus an arrow moves the picked icon by a slot. At a page edge the movement can continue onto another page; moving beyond a folder’s edge takes an app out. Command–R renames the picked item.

Control–Command–N groups selected apps into a folder. Use a small selection first and inspect the result rather than applying a large change before the key sequence is familiar.

## Keep Undo within reach

Command–Z reverses grid edits and Shift–Command–Z redoes them. Save a backup before a broad reorganization. These are arrangement tools: they are different from removing application files with Command–Delete and its separate confirmation.

## Try a small complete exercise

1. Pick and select two apps.

1. Make a folder and give it a useful name.

1. Move one item and inspect the destination.

1. Undo the experiment or retain it deliberately, then finish arrangement mode.

[### Why Escape sometimes closes a folder instead of the grid
