# Keyboard launcher or visual app grid: which fits your Mac?

Typing is quick when you remember a name. A visual grid helps when you remember an icon or a group. CubbyPad combines both without making you choose one habit.

## Names favor keyboard search

If you already know the app you need, an opening shortcut followed by a few letters keeps your hands on the keyboard. In CubbyPad, start typing when the grid opens, use the arrows to choose a result and press Return.

Search also handles initials and some typing mistakes. That reduces the need to scan several pages when you have a specific destination in mind. The benefit comes from a repeatable sequence, not from remembering every application’s exact full name.

## Places favor a stable grid

A grid helps when you recognize an icon more easily than a name. Manual folders and fixed positions let you use the same visual route repeatedly. Automatic sorting can be useful for a first pass, but repeatedly changing the arrangement can undo that familiarity.

## Use each method for the right moment

- Search for a known app when you are in the middle of typing.

- Browse a folder when choosing between several related tools.

- Use a separate layout when your work and personal app groups differ.

- Keep commonly used positions stable after you have learned them.

## Start with fewer changes

Choose one opening shortcut and arrange one page or folder. Use that setup for ordinary tasks before customizing every setting. The grid and search are two entrances to the same installed apps, so you can change habits gradually.
