# Choose a background for your Launchpad-style app grid

CubbyPad offers glass, your wallpaper, a solid color or a chosen picture. Blur and dim controls help keep icons and labels readable over the background.

## Pick the kind of backdrop first

Glass uses a frosted view of the desktop behind the grid. Wallpaper keeps the Mac’s wallpaper in the presentation. Color creates a simpler solid backdrop, and Picture lets you choose an image of your own.

Choose the broad effect before adjusting small details. A background that supports the icons is more useful than one that makes every app compete for attention.

## Test labels against bright and dark areas

A landscape can look quiet in one corner and very busy in another. Look at names across a whole page, including the areas over highlights and detailed textures. Blur reduces detail; dimming changes how strongly the backdrop competes with the foreground.

Keep names visible while testing. An icon-only page may conceal a contrast problem that becomes obvious when you open a folder or search.

## Use a preset as a starting point

1. Open Settings › Grid.

1. Try Default, Classic, iPad, Glass or Minimal.

1. Choose a background type.

1. Adjust blur and dim until the app names remain easy to read.

1. Use Undo or choose Default if you prefer the starting appearance.

## The launcher’s look is its own preference

Changing CubbyPad’s presentation does not reorganize your documents or replace app artwork in Finder. If you are also trying an icon pack, check the combination rather than judging the background in isolation. A simple color is a useful reference when comparing busier choices.
