# Keep custom app names clear across two Macs

Use recognizable launcher names and optional iCloud layout sync while keeping app installations and version differences separate.

## Choose a name that describes the same tool

A short launcher nickname is useful only if you will recognize it later. On two Macs, avoid labels that depend on one machine’s temporary project or file path. A name that remains clear on both computers is easier to search and less likely to hide which app you selected.

## Sync the organization deliberately

CubbyPad’s optional iCloud Drive sync includes chosen app names along with layouts, folders and hidden apps. Enable iCloud on the intended account and back up the arrangement before choosing between existing local and remote data.

Syncing a name does not install the app or make different app versions identical. Each Mac still needs the relevant software and a valid activation within your plan.

## Verify on the second Mac

1. Open the synced layout after iCloud delivers it.

1. Search the chosen name.

1. Inspect which app the result identifies.

1. Launch it once to confirm the installation is available.

## Resolve naming confusion without replacing everything

If a label is misleading, rename that entry rather than immediately restoring a whole layout. Keep the original app’s identity in mind when asking for support. A nickname is a useful organizational layer, but it should not obscure which software is actually running.
