# Do a quick calculation in your Mac app launcher

Type a calculation into CubbyPad’s Search or Ask field, then press Return to copy the answer. Basic calculations work without Apple Intelligence.

## Use search for the calculation in front of you

A quick multiplication or percentage does not always need a separate calculator window. CubbyPad recognizes calculations in the same field used to find apps. This is useful when you are already opening the grid and want an answer to paste elsewhere.

Try “24*18” for multiplication, “200*15%” for a percentage of an amount, or “√16” for a square root. Check the displayed result before copying it.

## Calculate, then copy

1. Open CubbyPad.

1. Type the expression into Search or Ask.

1. Read the result and confirm that the expression matches your question.

1. Press Return to copy the answer.

1. Paste it into the document or field where you need it.

## Keep the calculation clear

Use explicit operations when order matters. A short expression is easier to inspect than a complicated chain of numbers. If you need a record of inputs, multiple steps or a table of values, use a calculator or spreadsheet that keeps that context visible.

A copied answer does not include an explanation of what your numbers mean. Keep the units and the source of those numbers alongside it in your own work.

## This is separate from model-based search

Calculations are an action recognized by search, not an Apple Intelligence task suggestion. You can use basic search and calculations without enabling the language model. When you need an app instead, replace the expression with its name or initials.
