# Keep external-drive apps organized in your launcher

Discover applications on connected drives while keeping their positions recognizable when a travel or game-library disk is unplugged.

## Add the actual installation source

In Settings › Layout › App Folders, Apps on other drives checks Applications folders on connected disks and partitions. Add a specific folder when your software lives elsewhere on the drive. The setting discovers an installation in place instead of copying it to the internal disk.

## A saved position can outlast a connection

CubbyPad can retain a disconnected drive app’s place as a dimmed entry. That prevents every unplugging from becoming an invitation to rebuild the page. The application still needs its underlying files before it can open.

Treat the dimmed icon as a location reminder, not as an offline copy of the software. Reconnecting the expected disk is the first check.

## Make the traveling setup predictable

1. Give the external app group a clear folder name.

1. Keep essential tools installed through their normal supported locations.

1. Test the launcher with the drive connected and disconnected.

1. Remove a saved placeholder only when you no longer want its position.

## Investigate the path before the layout

If the drive is present but the app stays unavailable, verify its installation path and the configured source. A renamed folder or removed app cannot be repaired by changing icon size or importing the same old arrangement again. Keep source and view problems separate.
