# App layouts are different from separate Mac accounts

A Work or Personal layout changes launcher organization. It does not isolate documents or replace macOS user-account access controls.

## Know which layer is changing

A layout is an arrangement of app icons, folders and pages. Switching that view does not sign out of applications, lock private documents or make the underlying macOS account belong to someone else.

## Separate people and activities deliberately

Work and Personal layouts can be useful for one person changing activities during the day. When multiple people share a Mac, account and file-access decisions belong to the operating system and the applications themselves.

Do not treat Hide from Grid as a privacy barrier. A hidden app stays installed and searchable, and Finder can still expose its installation. The preference is for reducing visual clutter.

## Share an arrangement without sharing secrets

A screenshot of a grid may reveal project names, app choices or custom labels even if it does not contain documents. Review those details before using a setup as a public example. A layout backup and a license key also have different purposes and should not be posted interchangeably.

## Use layouts for the job they do well

1. Group tools for a recurring activity.

1. Choose names that make switching clear.

1. Keep access controls outside the launcher in the appropriate system settings.

1. Review what a shared screenshot or backup reveals before sending it.
