# Organize design tools by the work you do

Separate making, reviewing and occasional asset utilities in your launcher instead of putting every creative application in one crowded folder.

## Name the activity before the category

A single Design folder can become crowded when it contains drawing, prototyping, image processing and review software. Consider the stages you actually repeat. A small Make group and a Review group can be clearer than asking one broad category to cover every activity.

## Keep recognition stronger than decoration

Design apps often have distinctive colors and artwork. An icon pack can make the grid feel consistent, but it may reduce those original color cues. Compare it with visible names before committing to a new appearance.

Use the folder’s own color or symbol when you need to distinguish activities. That adds a cue without requiring you to relearn every application’s icon simultaneously.

## Keep assets in a deliberate file structure

A launcher folder groups apps, not the source artwork, fonts or exports they use. Maintain those files through Finder and the relevant application. Recent-file search can shorten the route back to a document, but it is not an archive of the entire project.

## Check the setup during a real handoff

1. Open a source document through its normal tool.

1. Switch to the apps used for review.

1. Notice which group names were clear and which were vague.

1. Adjust the arrangement, then save a layout backup once it works.
