# Make a small writing workspace in your app grid

Group the tools for drafting, reference and notes, while keeping app launching separate from document organization and distraction controls.

## A writing folder can stay small

Start with the editor you use for drafts, the tool holding your notes and a browser or reference reader if needed. A folder that launches every communication and research app can create more choices at the moment you intended to begin writing.

## Give the draft its own reliable home

The app grid does not replace file names, folders or document backups. Use recent-file results when they are useful, but keep the actual draft stored somewhere deliberate. A recent list can stop showing an older project without the file itself being gone.

If you use multiple editors, a clear app nickname can help distinguish their purpose in search. It does not rename the app’s bundle or the documents it creates.

## Use layout switching for context

A Writing layout can bring the small tool group into view. If a Focus selects it automatically, verify the return to Main when the Focus ends. Switching arrangements does not itself block other applications or close already open windows.

## Test the beginning of a session

1. Open the folder and start only the apps you need.

1. Locate the correct draft.

1. Make a short edit and save it.

1. Adjust the setup only where that sequence was awkward.
